Tapanappa Eden Valley Riesling 2019
Tapanappa Eden Valley Riesling 2019
Rooted in a commitment to exceptional single vineyards, this juicy Riesling comes from the aged granitic soils of the 50-year-old Bartholomeus Vineyard. It features vibrant notes of pink grapefruit pulp, bath salts, and lemon rind, flowing with a subtle phenolic edge and lively acidity. The wine is ripe and lush, avoiding the trend of earlier harvests and sharp acidity. It combines pointed, rich flavors with finesse, offering a full, satisfying mouthfeel and a long, gratifying finish.
Founded by Brian and Ann Croser in 2002, Tapanappa represents Brian’s ongoing quest to create unique ‘wines of terroir’ by aligning the climate, soil, and geology of three distinguished South Australian sites with the appropriate grape varieties. The wines come from the Whalebone Vineyard in Wrattonbully, planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, and Merlot in 1974; the Tiers Vineyard in Adelaide Hills' Piccadilly Valley, which has Chardonnay planted since 1979; and the Foggy Hill Vineyard on the southern Fleurieu Peninsula, known for its Pinot Noir. The winery and cellar door are situated in the heart of Piccadilly Valley.
