Ox Hardy Upper Tintara Fiano
Ox Hardy Upper Tintara Fiano
The wine has a pale straw color with hints of green, showcasing aromas of Nashi pear, citrus, and a touch of stone fruit. On the palate, it features citrus and pear flavors, complemented by bracing acidity and a smooth finish from the lees.
This winery's significance is immense, with a family lineage tracing back to 1850 and Andrew's great-great-grandfather, Thomas Hardy, often called the father of the South Australian wine industry. For 167 years, the family has consistently supplied grapes to and from Hardys Wines. Notably, some of the finest vineyards in McLaren Vale have stayed within the family, including the Upper Tintara Vineyard, established in 1861 and acquired by Thomas Hardy in 1871. Expanded with Shiraz plantings in 1891, these Ancestor Vines have been the main source for Hardy's Eileen Hardy for 48 years. Andrew and his late father Bob produced small amounts of Shiraz as a hobby, and since 2008, each vintage has yielded 70 dozen bottles, with exports to Hong Kong, the UK, and Singapore.
