Thistledown Sands of Time Old Vine Grenache 2018/20/21
Thistledown Sands of Time Old Vine Grenache 2018/20/21
Matured in French puncheons, including 25% new oak, this Grenache originates from 80-year-old bush vines, grown without irrigation. Fermented with 33% whole bunches and partly in a concrete egg, it showcases abundant flavors of blood plum, supported by tannins that promise structure and aging potential.
Thistledown embodies wisdom, foresight, and unwavering confidence, blending talent, superb old-vine sites, and exceptional wines that have elevated grenache to a pinnacle in Australia. Giles Cooke and Fergal Tynan, both Masters of Wine with deep appreciation for the world’s finest grenache, grew weary of international perceptions of Australian wine. Drawing on their extensive experience crafting and promoting wines from Spain, they carved a niche defined by precise craftsmanship, refreshing tannins, and vibrant red fruit nuances. Their meticulous approach to small-batch micro-ferments in optimal vessels results in wines of exquisite expression and elegance.
