Dinny Goonan Shiraz 2020
Dinny Goonan Shiraz 2020
Vibrant and crystalline purple in the glass. Perfumed and aromatic with violets, blackcurrant and a touch of white pepper. Medium weight yet mouth filling with supple black fruits and a charcuterie savoury note. It's quite slippery and gliding and flows from entry to finish. The tannins and acidity doing the work from the shadows, away from the spotlight. It has is a bright and persistent finish.
Established in 1988 from the rural locality in Victoria’s Surf Coast Shire of Bambra, Dinny Goonan Wines produce wines of exceptional quality. This wine is composed of 97% Shiraz and 3% Viognier, with 10% of the grapes fermented as whole bunches. It is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, with 10% being new oak. Displaying a medium-weight profile, it is spicy and complex, showcasing the characteristics of a youthful wine. While the level of pepper might be subject to debate, it imparts a lively and energetic quality, reflecting the cooler-climate origins of the Shiraz grapes.
