Tapanappa Foggy Hill Pinot Noir 2019
Tapanappa Foggy Hill Pinot Noir 2019
The 2019 Foggy Hill Pinot Noir epitomizes the distinctiveness of the Foggy Hill vineyard. It presents a translucent appearance with a carmine tint and offers fragrant aromas of cherry, blueberry, and subtle spice from the stalks. Oak aging adds a nuanced Chinese 5 spice essence, complementing the wine's delicate and lively flavors, underscored by refined tannins. Representing the impeccably ripe fruit and unique terroir of Foggy Hill, the 2019 Tapanappa Foggy Hill Pinot Noir is a quintessential expression of this remarkable site.
In 2003, the Croser family planted their first vines at Maylands Farm, near Parawa on the Fleurieu Peninsula, halfway between Victor Harbor and Cape Jervis. The Foggy Hill Vineyard, situated in this unique, cool, foggy location, stands alone within a 10-kilometer radius, just 8 kilometers from the Great Southern Ocean. Spanning 4 hectares, the vineyard boasts close-spaced Dijon clone Pinot Noir vines (clones 114, 115, and 777) on rootstocks, positioned 350 meters above sea level on a north-facing slope of sandy loam and clay soil over 67 million-year-old laterite parent rock.
