Yarra Yering Agincourt Cabernet Malbec 2018

Yarra Yering Agincourt Cabernet Malbec 2018
Yarra Yering is one of the Yarra Valley’s most iconic and historic wineries, established in 1969 by Dr. Bailey Carrodus, a pioneer who helped revive winemaking in the region. Known for its elegant, age-worthy wines, Yarra Yering quickly earned a reputation for excellence, with its first commercial vintage released in 1973.
Since 2013 the winery is led by acclaimed winemaker Sarah Crowe, whose focus on site expression and sustainable practices has earned widespread recognition, including multiple Winemaker of the Year awards. Her second ‘Winemaker of the Year” accolade was in 2021, presented by Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine. The same year Yarra Yering won the 2022 James Halliday Winery of the Year & Wine of The Year, the first time a winery has ever won 2 major accolades in the one year.
This wine is a blend from the Agincourt block of (75%) Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 1995 and (25%) Malbec planted in 1990.
Tasting Notes
"A wine of absolute charm. It's a 75/25% blend in cabernet's favour though it presents as a seamless whole. Blackcurrant, mulberry, roasted nut and fresh briar flavours come brightened by redcurrant. Tannin has melted in, clean acidity keeps it all fresh and true, the finish feels assured. It will age gracefully and (very) well." 95 Points - Halliday Wine Companion, Campbell Mattinson (2021).
