Yangarra Hickinbotham Grenache 2021

Yangarra Hickinbotham Grenache 2021

The wine presents aromas of sliced strawberries, pitted red cherries, hints of white pepper, grated nutmeg, and rosemary stem. Medium- to full-bodied, it features fine, textural tannins. On the palate, it is transparent and clear, with pretty red fruits and berries delivering lovely definition and drive. Vibrant and bright, it boasts an excellent finish. It is recommended to enjoy this wine after 2024.

Harvested by hand from the Hickinbotham Clarendon Vineyard on March 23rd, the grapes undergo careful berry sorting. Following destemming and crushing, they are transferred into 1800L 'cocciopesto' stone egg-shaped amphoras. Fermentation takes place in the amphoras, with a gentle maceration technique that involves only wetting the cap. 69% of the wine remains on the skins in the amphoras for an extended period of 198 days. No pressings are used in the winemaking process, and the wine matures exclusively in the amphoras for a total of 13 months. It is then bottled in June 2022.
