The reputation of the Hickinbotham Vineyard has been well-established over time. Prior to the change in ownership in 2012, the grapes from its 85 hectares of vines were exclusively sold to a select group of esteemed winemakers. These wineries included Penfolds, Clarendon Hills, and Hardys, and the grapes were utilized in flagship wines such as Penfolds Grange and Eileen Hardy Shiraz. Clarendon Hills was the only winery that released vineyard-specific wines under the "Hickinbotham" label.
