The Standish Wine Company The Standish 2022

The Standish Wine Company, founded in 1999 by sixth‑generation Barossan winemaker Dan Standish, is a boutique winery dedicated to producing ultra-premium Shiraz wines that embody the soul of the region. Inspired by ancestral vineyards planted in the late 19th century, Dan began with a small parcel of century-old Shiraz vines and quickly built a reputation for uncompromising quality and site expression.

Situated just off Kalimna Road in Light Pass, Standish is quiet by design, no flashy tasting rooms or heavy marketing, open only by appointment to ensure an intimate, focused experience for serious wine lovers.

Tasting Notes

"Made with 100% shiraz sourced from the Laycock vineyard in the western parish of Greenock. Deeply coloured with heady, pure fruit of substantial weight and density. Dark plum compote and black berry fruits studded with dark spice, licorice, cassis, earth, dark chocolate, cold tea and wood spice. It's like a piston on the palate, all compression and release, the core of fruit and spice propelled across the palate with impressive cadence. Some lovely fine, chewy, ferrous tannins and a seamless extended finish. Grace and power." 96 Points - Halliday Wine Companion, Dave Brookes (2024).
