2023 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz

A true Barossa icon, Rockford Basket Press Shiraz celebrates the region’s rich heritage and traditional winemaking craftsmanship.

Sourced from established, dry-grown vineyards across the Barossa Valley floor (70%) and Eden Valley (30%), the fruit is processed using traditional equipment, with individual parcels kept separate throughout fermentation and oak maturation. Pressings are also kept separate for later blending, resulting in a wine of great complexity.

The 2023 vintage began with excellent spring rainfall, followed by a long, slow ripening season with no days exceeding 40°C. The wine was aged for two years in predominantly older French and American oak, with less than 10% new oak, followed by a further year of bottle ageing before release.

Displaying dark fruit and a tightly wound structure in its youth, the 2023 is a potential sleeper with excellent ageing prospects. Decant if enjoying young to allow its depth and complexity to unfold.
