Eisenstone Mattcheoss Vyd. Greenock Shiraz SV 901 2022

Eisenstone Mattcheoss Vyd. Greenock Shiraz SV 901 2022
Eisenstone pays tribute to the Barossa Valley’s rich German heritage, its name blending Eisen (German for iron) and stone, reflecting both the region’s ironstone soils and the stonework of early German settlers.
Winemaker Stephen Cook focuses exclusively on Barossa Valley Shiraz, sourcing premium fruit from the renowned western ranges, an area known for producing bold, full-bodied wines with remarkable depth and aging potential. Each wine is made in small batches, individually numbered, and crafted to highlight the unique characteristics of the Valley’s diverse sub-regions.
The Mattcheoss vineyard lies to the western side of Greenock Creek in deep red soils that slop gently to the East. The parcel of grapes used for the single vineyard wine are sourced from 40+ year old Shiraz vines that produce densely coloured and intensely flavoured wines the region is famous for.
The grapes were fermented in small batches and after fermentation was matured in 50% new French oak for 20 months prior to bottling. Minimal intervention is used in the winemaking process and the wine is moved the minimal times prior to bottling and is not cold stabilised or filtered. This single vineyard wines is a special barrel selection of the Greenock Shiraz.
Bold and vibrant, shiraz from Greenock offers aromas of ripe blackberries, dark plums, black cherries and a touch of spice. The palate is rich and full, with deep dark fruit flavors and hints of mocha, perfectly balanced by rounder tannins.
Only 800 bottles, each individually numbered.
