Yangarra Kings Wood Shiraz 2019
Yangarra Kings Wood Shiraz 2019
This wine exudes a distinct character, slightly more relaxed than its counterpart, the Ironheart. It boasts a floral and lifted profile, with a sappy, crunchy texture. Despite its inherent power, it maintains a remarkable lightness on the palate, characterized by an energetic cadence. Peppery acidity weaves through a tapestry of blue fruit nuances, violet, nori, smoked meat, and Asian spices. The finish is firm, with tannins that stimulate saliva, leaving the palate eager for the next sip.
The Yangarra Kings Wood Shiraz 2019 is a wine of exceptional quality, renowned for its use of the "Whole Bunch" Shiraz winemaking method since 2009. This approach has become a signature of all their Shiraz wines, with the introduction of large format foudre barrels in 2017 further enhancing the evolution of their Whole Bunch label into the King's Wood. Inspired by the historical significance of Royal Oaks and King's Wood forests, this wine embodies a long-term commitment to excellence.
The 2019 growing season, characterized by dry conditions and low yields, resulted in a condensed and rapid harvest. Despite this, the late-ripening Roussanne variety thrived, contributing to the wine's concentration, freshness, and natural acidity. Sourced exclusively from Block 12, the grapes underwent meticulous hand-picking, with 25% of whole bunches retained. Following a cold soak and open fermentation with wild yeast, the wine matured exclusively in 25hL French oak Foudre for 15 months.
