Wirra Wirra, meaning “amongst the gum trees,” is an iconic McLaren Vale winery built on rich history, creativity, and sustainability. Originally founded in 1894, the winery was revitalised in the late 1960s by Greg and Roger Trott, who restored its distinctive ironstone cellars.
Today, Wirra Wirra farms its estate vineyards biodynamically and organically, producing bold, elegant reds from McLaren Vale and expressive, cool-climate whites from select Adelaide Hills sites.
The Yandra Vineyard in Lenswood sits at 480m elevation with mixed gravel brown clay loam soil over heavy red clay. Planted in 1998 to the G9V7 clone, Yandra Vineyard is east facing, receiving morning sun and afternoon shade, ideal for Adelaide Hills Chardonnay.
Tasting Notes
"Pale straw in colour. A fragrant bouquet of flinty minerality layered with stone fruit, citrus zest, and subtle hints of baking spice and fresh dough. The palate is savoury and refined, with notes of almond and baked biscuit, layered over Beurre Bosc pear, lemon zest, and bright citrus.
