Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2017
Jim Barry The Armagh Shiraz 2017
This exquisite wine offers concentrated aromas of mulberry, sarsaparilla, and vanilla, mingling with hints of sage and violet. On the palate, indulge in intense flavors of elderberries, plum, sage, and five spice. Medium-bodied, it showcases a seamless flow of purple fruit alongside fine sandy tannins. With great complexity, this wine is designed to evolve gracefully over time.
The name "Armagh" pays homage to the Irish settlers who named the picturesque hills after their homeland upon arriving in 1849. Planted in 1968 by Jim Barry, the vineyard produces less than two tonnes per acre, thriving in sandy gravel soil and an average annual rainfall of 600mm. Positioned on a north-west facing slope, the vineyard benefits from ample sunlight, ensuring full ripeness of the fruit at harvest.
