Bindi Darshan Pinot Noir 2018

Bindi Darshan Pinot Noir 2018
Located 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the picturesque Macedon Ranges, ‘Bindi’ is the Dhillon family’s cherished property. Originally part of the larger grazing estate known as ‘Bundaleer’, the land was acquired in the 1950s. Today, the 170-hectare farm includes 7 hectares dedicated to premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines.
The Darshan Vineyard is a heartfelt tribute to Bindi founder Bill Darshan Singh Dhillon, who passed away in early 2013. Vineyard preparations began just a few months later, with planting completed in 2014. Set on west-facing slopes with quartz-rich soils reminiscent of the Original Vineyard, Darshan is densely planted at 11,300 vines per hectare. Notably, 20% of the site features an experimental "Crazy" section, planted at an intense 22,600 vines per hectare and incorporating four different clones.
The wine spends 15-17 months in French barrels of which about 35% are new. From 2017 onwards we are seeing the wines age gracefully and build earth, texture and intriguing beauty. Production typically varies from 100-150 dozen per vintage.
