Fraser Gallop Estate Parterre Chardonnay 2019

Established in 1999, Fraser Gallop Estate is located in the heart of Margaret River’s renowned Wilyabrup Valley. The 50-acre vineyard benefits from a moderate maritime climate, gravelly soils with clay subsoils, and gentle valley slopes that provide excellent drainage and water retention. Combined with long dry summers and the cooling influence of the Indian Ocean, these conditions produce wines with exceptional colour, flavour, and regional character.

Fraser Gallop Estate’s vineyard is planted on gravelly laterite loams over clay subsoils, creating ideal conditions for Bordeaux and Burgundy varieties. Dry-grown since establishment, the vines develop deep root systems that produce small berries with concentrated flavours and distinctive minerality. The north-facing slopes are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux reds, while the cooler south-facing slopes are home to Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay. Hand-picked and sustainably managed, the vineyard has earned a reputation as one of Margaret River’s most awarded and respected estates.

Tasting Notes

"From Wilyabrup, Gingin clone from an unirrigated vineyard. Whole-bunch pressed to 500L oak puncheons, 50% mlf in this high malic vintage, matured 9 months in barrel after blending. The acidity is the most striking element here: it feels very much countersunk into the abundant white stone fruit, and it has a distinct saline/saltiness about it. This drags the substantial fruit characters over the palate and through into the long finish. Quite something." 95 Points - Halliday Wine Companion, Erin Larkin (2021).
