MMAD Vineyard Blewitt Springs Grenache 2021

MMAD Vineyard Blewitt Springs Grenache 2021

In early 2021, MMAD Vineyard was acquired by a group of four industry experts: winemakers Martin Shaw and Adam Wadewitz, along with Masters of Wine Michael Hill-Smith and David LeMire. The name "MMAD" is derived from the initials of their first names. MMAD wines are crafted to showcase the distinctive terroir of Blewitt Springs and the character of its rare, old vines.

MMAD Vineyard has Grenache that was all planted in 1939, as well as Shiraz and Chenin Blanc, the oldest of which were planted in 1941 and 1964 respectively.

Winemaker Notes:

From the first vintage for the MMAD team, and it’s hard to imagine a better season. Lovely mild ripening conditions gave us Grenache with an intense core of red and blue fruit. There is a purity and density, but also a lightness that belies the energy and power of the fruit. Raspberry coulis and pomegranate notes sit alongside fennel seed and cumin, and flavours continue to unfurl as the wine sits in the glass. The grapes were mostly destemmed and fermented as whole berries in open concrete and stainless steel, before aging in used 500 litre puncheons. MMAD
