Grosset is a distinguished winery located in Auburn, at the southern tip of the Clare Valley, South Australia. Established in 1981 by Jeffrey Grosset, the winery is renowned for producing exceptional Riesling and Cabernet blend wines that authentically reflect the region's unique terroir. They have four estate-owned, certified organic and biodynamic (ACO) vineyards and producing wines that consistently receive high praise from critics and wine enthusiasts alike.

Grosset Springvale is a 5.3-hectare high-altitude vineyard located within a larger estate in Watervale, Clare Valley. The Grosset Springvale Riesling is crafted exclusively from fruit grown in this vineyard.

Acquired by Grosset in 2000 and planted the following year, Springvale is a distinctive viticultural site, notable for its geology, elevated position, and relative isolation. Unlike typical sites in the sub-region, it features thin red loam topsoil over limestone, with vines that are deeply rooted into slate bedrock, an uncommon characteristic that contributes to the vineyard’s unique terroir.

"A flavoursome release of this stalwart Clare riesling; easy access in youth with a sense of high drinkability, concentration of flavour and crystalline acidity. Scents of frangipani, sweet lime, ozone and green apple with similar flavours and a fine, chalky pucker to texture. There's a general prettiness, an inviting juiciness, despite the excellent, powdery textural elements and a freshness overall. It delivers a serious expression of the variety and feels like it is in the zone in youth, yet potential for very long cellaring in the same breath.
