Grapefruit and toast, flint and fig with a splash of lemon and peach, it's a classic chardonnay that shows Penfolds' commitment to continual improvement. The flinty and smoky aromas precede a palate of remarkable intensity, showcasing white-fleshed stone fruits.

This wine is predominantly sourced from Tasmania (mainly from the Central Highlands and Coal River Valley, with a touch from the Derwent Valley), with some grapes from Tumbarumba for minerality and linearity, and a small portion from the Adelaide Hills for richness. It spends eight months maturing in 60% new French oak barriques. A blend of ultra-cool climate fruit from Tasmania, Tumbarumba, and Adelaide Hills, this wine exudes elegance from the start.  Despite its time in new French oak, the wine effortlessly displays its character.

Introduced in 1998 featuring the 1995 vintage, Yattarna emerged from an extensive, dedicated, and widely acclaimed wine development initiative in Australia. The ambition to establish a benchmark for exceptionally refined Australian chardonnay was fueled by the visionary and independent spirit passed down through generations of Penfolds winemakers.
