Mount Mary is a family-owned, single-vineyard estate situated in the heart of Victoria’s Yarra Valley, southeast of Melbourne. Founded in 1971 by John and Marli Middleton, it was among the pioneering vineyards that led the revival of the Yarra Valley as a premier Australian wine region. The first plantings were completed by mid 1972 and today Mount Mary has 40 acres under vine representing 18 varieties.

Crafted with a focus on balance, Mount Mary Chardonnay offers both richness and elegance, with impressive length on the palate. While inspired by traditional Burgundian techniques, this wine also reflects its unique Yarra Valley origin. Unlike many Chardonnays, it does not undergo malolactic fermentation, thanks to the naturally vibrant acidity retained in the fruit at harvest.

The wine is entirely barrel fermented and matured for 11 months in a mix of 30% new French oak barriques, seasoned barrels, and large 1500L casks. Firm pressing and regular lees stirring enhance texture, depth, and complexity, resulting in a Chardonnay of structure and finesse.
