Sorrenberg Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Merlot 2023

Sorrenberg Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Merlot 2023
Sorrenberg is a boutique, biodynamic vineyard established in 1985 by Barry and Jan Morey on the cool-climate slopes of Beechworth. Surrounded by forest and set on granitic soils, this 3-hectare site produces elegant, hand-crafted wines with a strong focus on quality and tradition.
Certified biodynamic since 2008, Sorrenberg combines minimal-intervention winemaking with sustainable farming to create distinctive blends and varietals, including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Gamay with smaller quantities of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Semillon and Pinot Noir for the blends they are well known for.
The blend consists of 30-40% Merlot and Cabernet Franc, a touch of Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Carmenere with the remaining Cabernet Sauvignon. A low crop level is important to ensure the fruit ripens and achieves maximum flavour. The wine was fermented for 4 weeks on skins before pressing. Natural yeast is used throughout. The wine undergoes oak maturation for 24 months before final blending and bottling without filtration.
Tasting Notes
"The aromas of the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Merlot offer a complex display of blackberries, currants, and bell peppers, with delicate hints of spice and cigar box. On the palate, tight acidity and fine-grained tannins create structure, while a touch of spicy oak adds length and complexity." Sorrenberg
