Giant Steps was founded by wine industry pioneer Phil Sexton. Phil found his holy grail near Gruyere in the Sexton vineyard, which he planted in 1997 on the steep slopes of the Warramate Ranges.

For over two decades, Giant Steps has helped shape Australia's reputation for producing exceptional cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their features single‑vineyard expressions alongside a region‑blend Yarra Valley range, minimally intervened and site‑driven. The wines are refined, finely balanced and provide a vivid sense of place.

Each variety and parcel is fermented separately in small open vats with varying degrees of whole bunch and whole berry fermentation, before being matured in large and small oak for 18 months. The final blend was completed in the Spring of 2021 and left in tank to settle and come together until bottling just before Christmas, by gravity, no fining, no filtration.
