Pioneers of the Henty region, Crawford River was established in 1975 by John and Catherine Thomson, who saw exceptional potential in the cool, maritime climate of South-West Victoria. Planted on John’s family grazing land, the vineyard’s first Riesling and Cabernet vines were followed by a winery in 1981. Today, daughter Belinda continues the legacy, crafting elegant, terroir-driven wines that reflect the site’s unique soils and southern latitude.

Located 50km inland from the wild Southern Ocean in far South-West Victoria, Crawford River has been a benchmark for the Henty region since 1975. The cool (but not cold) climate, shaped by maritime breezes and long, even ripening seasons, brings freshness and finesse to their wines.
