Bindi Block 8 Pinot Noir 2022

Bindi Block 8 Pinot Noir 2022
Located 50 kilometres north-west of Melbourne in the picturesque Macedon Ranges, ‘Bindi’ is the Dhillon family’s cherished property. Originally part of the larger grazing estate known as ‘Bundaleer’, the land was acquired in the 1950s. Today, the 170-hectare farm includes 7 hectares dedicated to premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines.
The Block 8 vineyard spans three-quarters of a hectare and is situated on a sheltered, north-west facing slope rich in quartz, with patches of fertile volcanic soil. As the eighth block planted at Bindi, it boasts a prime mid-slope position with expansive views. The vineyard is primarily planted at a density of 11,300 vines per hectare, with a unique section doubling that density to 22,600 vines per hectare and featuring seven different clones.
The wine spends 15-17 months in French barrels of which about 50% are new. The Block 8 wine has exceptional fruit depth and earthiness and is intensely structured, very long and ageworthy.
Winemaker Notes
The 2020 Block 8 has its usual darker fruit profile but also red cherry fragrance. It has layers of aromas; ginger, earth and game, brown spice. The palate is creamy and fresh with a supple and smooth fruit and tannin flow. As is typical with this vineyard, it builds through the middle palate and fans out through the finish. It will continue to gain complexity and drink beautifully over the next ten years. Michael Dhillon
