DAOSA Piccadilly Valley Sparkling Rosé
DAOSA Piccadilly Valley Sparkling Rosé
This blend features 88% Pinot Noir, 8% Chardonnay, and 4% Pinot Meunier, aged for a couple of years on lees for added complexity. It exhibits a unique brightness, almost zesty and saline, with hints of white balsamic and vibrant red cherry and rosehip tea notes. From the outset, it's fragrant and pretty, displaying lively energy on the palate alongside tartness and pleasing bitterness, balanced by red fruits and sweet spice. While relatively straightforward, its precision, fine structure, and refreshing character are its strengths. It's a bit unconventional yet pure, fresh, and thoroughly delightful.
Xavier Bizot, son of the late Christian Bizot of Bollinger fame, and his wife Lucy Croser, daughter of Brian and Ann Croser, are exceptionally well-credentialed owners of the vineyard. The name 'Terre à Terre' translates from French as 'down to earth'. Located on a limestone ridge next to Tapanappa’s Whalebone Vineyard, their vineyard has expanded, resulting in increased production. They cultivate a variety of grapes including Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc, and Shiraz. Their wines are released under the Terre à Terre, Down to Earth, and DAOSA labels.
