Josef Chromy Botrytis Riesling 2019 (375mL)
Josef Chromy Botrytis Riesling 2019 (375mL)
Radiant golden yellow in color, this wine presents a fragrant bouquet characterized by delicate floral notes of orange blossom, honeysuckle, and spiced citrus peel. On the palate, indulgent flavors of orange marmalade intertwine with subtle hints of ripe apricot, culminating in a luxuriously rich and prolonged experience, harmonized by invigorating natural acidity.
In 1950, Josef Chromy made a daring escape from Czechoslovakia, arriving in Tasmania with little more than hope and ambition. Despite humble beginnings, he became synonymous with some of Tasmania's most renowned wine brands, including Rochecombe (now Bay of Fires), Jansz, Heemskerk, and Tamar Ridge. At the age of 76 in 2007, Josef embarked on his own winemaking journey with the establishment of Josef Chromy Wines. Central to the enterprise is the esteemed Old Stornoway vineyard, boasting 60 hectares of mature vines. The talented and industrious winemaker Jeremy Dineen passed the baton to his capable colleague Ockie Myburgh in January 2021, ensuring a seamless continuation of Josef's legacy.
