David Fletcher's diverse background reflects a Renaissance spirit. While studying oenology at Adelaide University, he gained hands-on experience at Tinlins in McLaren Vale. After graduating in 2003, he spent two years at O'Leary Walker in the Clare Valley before feeling drawn to Burgundy. Passionate about Pinot, he moved to the Yarra Valley in 2006, serving as assistant winemaker at Sticks for three years. During this time, he also completed vintages in Kazakhstan and twice in Italy for Ceretto.

In 2009, David became a grape liaison officer with Foster's, covering Victoria and parts of New South Wales. This role later led him to work in the Napa Valley and Santa Barbara County for Beringer, part of Foster's. David and his wife, Eleanor, were inspired to establish Fletcher Wines, focusing exclusively on crafting Nebbiolo from vines at least a decade old. Their wines are exported to the UK, the US, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, and Italy
